Room13c
Jora reaches through the open doorway and touches the white mirror. The mirror rushes over the group, plunging them into bone freezing darkness. The cold departs, leaving the groups standing in pitch blackness.
“Who closed the door?” Lamia sounds frantic.
“I think it just sealed itself when the mirror grabbed us,” Jora says. “It doesn’t matter; we chose to walk into darkness.”
In the darkness, each of the youngsters imagines things moving around them. Shadows, blacker than the surrounding darkness, move in the corners of their eye.
“Do you hear something?” Jora says in a whisper.
“No,” Conrad says. “I think…”
A deep growl echoes through the room followed by three more growls. A group of creatures must be hidden in the darkness.
“Arm yourselves,” Jora orders.
Swords are drawn and staves readied but the group does not know where the danger is located.
They huddle together, unsure of the location of the walls or the exits as the sound of something large moves in the darkness beyond their reach.
Jora shouts and swings his sword impotently, hoping against hope that whatever is in the darkness will be afraid of them.
Safir screams and something warm and wet splashes the other members of the group.
Another roar erupts above their heads and it is Conrad’s turn to scream as something snatches him away into the dark.
Something elephantine, huge, and reeking of death slams into Jora and Lamia. They vainly try to defend themselves but teeth, hidden by the blackness around them rend their flesh.
In a matter of moments, the only sound in the dark room is that of teeth rending flesh.
